concerned about my cats health?
i have a cat called tootsie who is 1 year and 10months and i have just taken his pulse rate from the inside leg on the femeral artery and i am getting 64 beats a minute.
i checked on a variety of different sites which told me the range is between 100-110, is this correct and should i be worried about my cat?

I have re-done the pulse via the heart and it is still picking up 7-8 beats every 15 seconds.
The artery is not the best place to get a heartrate on a cat or dog. It’s much easier to feel the heart beating through the chest wall than to feel the pulse. Hold the chest between your thumb and fingers at the point where the elbow would touch it if it were flexed. To measure the pulse or heart rate, count the number of pulsations or the heartbeats you feel in 15 seconds and multiply that number by 4. This is roughly the number of beats per minute. The normal value in a cat ranges from 120 to 200 depending on how excited he is. Do this at least four times within a few minute period.
In reality, the pulse rate is very difficult to measure even in a normal cat because it is usually so fast and so faint that only Veterinarians and their technicians have enough experience to make an accurate count.
So, recheck the heart rate using the chest method.
