How I can get my cat to stop using my furniture as a Scratching Post?

I just bought a leather package and my cat has managed to dig their claws on it as a scratching post! … please i need help to stop? any ideas?

He / she is scratcing to sharpen their claws and to mark their Isimilar territory scratching trees in the garden). There are two solutions: 1. cats do not like citrus smells so, maybe a lemon (or lemon flavor) scratching in the area. 2. or (as everyone has said) getting another scratching post. By the way, declawed cats is illegal in the United Kingdom. The choice of water is not really going to waork either as in the long run prevent the cat just as you think you will get wet.
